L.E.S. Live Every Second is a non-for profit organization put together by a group of Lester Dominguez’s closest family and friends.

Lester’s an energetic, charismatic, goofy, goal oriented and loving son, brother, cousin, nephew, grandson, boyfriend, godfather, friend and colleague who passed away suddenly at the young age of 27. We started this organization in honor of him. We believe that had Lester seen a doctor in the 5 years prior, maybe other preventative actions could have been taken.

A couple of weeks before Lester passed, he was experiencing some discomfort in his chest, but didn’t think much of it. On the morning of February 12, he decided to get checked out. He drove himself to the ER only to find out he was actually having a heart attack. There was a 99% blockage to his heart. The doctors performed a procedure to open up the blood flow and everyone was relieved that he was going to be okay and coming home later that week. While at the hospital, he had his labs done and found out that his blood sugar level was well over 400mg/dL (a normal range is between 130-140 mg/dL after a meal) and a blood pressure of 179/134 (normal range is less than 120/80). These consistently high values indicate he was diabetic and had high blood pressure which are two major risk factors for developing heart problems. On the morning of Valentine’s Day 2013, Lester suffered a second heart attack and passed away in his sleep.

L.E.S. Live Every Second’s mission is to increase health awareness by fostering the importance of routine health check-ups. Our goal is to better educate the community about the benefits of primary prevention and how it can lead to a healthier lifestyle.

Lester “Les” will greatly be missed, but through your support, he can live on through all of us. By sharing his story, and helping others become more aware of their own health, we can build a stronger and healthier community for each and every one of us.

Our Vision

The LES vision for the next 5-10 years is to be a resource center where we can educate and provide tools to our community about primary prevention. We want to be a hub where you can gain information about your health, ask questions, get support, find a physician and get a jump start to a healthier lifestyle. We will continue to host various events and continue to spread the LES mission of fostering the importance of routine health check ups.

We want to continue to keep our focus on young adults, ages 18-35, but of course not limited to that age range. LES would reach out to local physicians, hospitals, clinics and fitness facilities. We hope to create relationships with other organizations with a similar goals and work together to create change in this world.

We thank you for your love and support to help us get this far. We truly believe that together we can help make a difference. We can change the way we care for ourselves and those in our communities. Primary prevention is the key intervention.
